Woman Shot in the Neck During Robbery on Grants Pen Road

Woman Seriously Injured in Grants Pen Road Robbery

A woman is hospitalised in serious condition after being shot in the neck during a robbery along Grants Pen Road in St. Andrew on Thursday, according to police reports.

The incident occurred in the afternoon when the woman was reportedly travelling along the busy thoroughfare. Preliminary investigations indicate that she was approached by armed assailants who attempted to rob her. During the encounter, a gun was fired, striking her in the neck.

She was assisted by passers-by and later transported to hospital, where she remains under medical care. Her condition has not been officially disclosed.

Police Hunt Gunmen

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has launched an intensive investigation and is actively searching for the suspects involved.

A senior police source said investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby businesses and are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

“This was a brazen and violent act carried out in a public space,” the officer said. “We are pursuing all leads to identify and apprehend those responsible.”

No arrests have been made so far.

Area Remains a Security Concern

Grants Pen Road is a major commercial and residential corridor that has seen repeated reports of robberies and shootings in recent months. Residents and commuters say daylight attacks have become increasingly common, fueling anxiety among workers and pedestrians.

“This could have been anyone,” one shop operator said. “People are scared because these things are happening in broad daylight.”

Community leaders are calling for increased police patrols and improved lighting along the roadway.

Violent Robberies Continue to Worry Authorities

The shooting adds to growing concerns about violent robberies across the Kingston Metropolitan Area. Police data show that firearms continue to be the weapon of choice in many street-level robberies, often resulting in severe injuries or death.

Security analysts warn that offenders are becoming more aggressive, even when victims offer little or no resistance.

Law enforcement officials are urging citizens to remain vigilant, avoid isolated areas where possible, and report suspicious activity immediately.

Investigation Ongoing

Police are urging anyone with information related to the shooting to contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop anonymously.

Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
